 About us : The Zhengzhou Street Children Protection Center (Protection Center for short) was set up under the auspices of the MCA in 1995 to protect |

street children between the age of six to 18. Over the last 13 years,
more than 12000 children have passed through its doors. It offers care
in protection, survival, participation and development. It adopts a
multi-channel approach, working with various development agencies such
as UNICEF and Save the Child UK, but also with other government or
non-government agencies. 
 In 2001, the Protection Center was pointed to be implement unit of MCA and UNICEF cooperation street children project. Through cooperation, the Protection Center explored a new, comprehensive model of rehabilitation based on rights-based principles and the best interest of the child. The model addresses the health, emotional, survival and participation needs of street children, and it is called “Zhengzhou Model”. The interventions are accessible to children at any stage, and help them to gain the necessary skills and confidence to return to mainstream society. |
